These fabricated 3D letters have a face and returns that form the depth of the letter. Flat cut letters are cut from sheet material and create a shallower profile. Both can make effective business signs; the choice depends on the appearance, position and budget you have in mind.
Face-illuminated letters
Face-lit lettering directs light through the front of the letter so the wording is visible after dark. Discuss the colour, brightness, depth and overall dimensions with our team. The design needs to accommodate illumination and suit the intended indoor or outdoor location.
Halo-illuminated letters
Halo-lit letters cast light behind the lettering onto the mounting surface, creating a glow around the letter shape. The wall finish, spacing and surrounding light affect how that glow looks. Share photographs of the wall and a reference for the effect you want so we can review the specification.
Face illumination and halo illumination are different effects. We will confirm the lighting approach, power arrangements and installation requirements as part of your bespoke quote.
Non-illuminated 3D lettering
Built-up letters can also be supplied as a non-illuminated sign. Their depth creates a defined shape on a fascia or reception wall without a lighting system. Tell us your logo, preferred finish and approximate dimensions, and we can discuss a suitable construction.
Flat cut letters or built-up letters?
For individual letters cut from acrylic, ACM, foam PVC, MDF or solid aluminium, use our flat cut lettering calculator. Sheet-cut letters mounted on locators can look raised without the fabricated depth of a built-up letter. Laser cutting and CNC routing describe cutting methods; they do not by themselves make the letter illuminated.

What to include in your lettering enquiry
Send vector artwork if available, the overall width and height, photographs of the mounting surface and your preferred finish. Tell us whether the sign is indoors or outside, whether illumination is needed and whether there is a power supply nearby. Bespoke logos, connected lettering and installation need an artwork and site review before a final quote.
